A 12 Year Old Teaching An Adult Lessons Of Life

Hello peeps how have you been doing?

So much has been going on around the world – and that’s all I’m saying.

For the longest time I’ve noticed my 12 year old daughter telling me that I need to get rid of some of my belongings – does this resonate with you?

She reckons I have way too many items of clothes, shoes, handbags, makeup – to name a few.

How does a lover of nice things just get rid of her stuff? I may need these items one day after I’ve gotten rid of them!!!

Even though I haven’t used a large proportion of most of the things I own – to be honest, I can’t even remember some of the things I own. To make matters worse, I often struggle to find some items I really love.

Talk of less of even using them in the last 6 – 12 months. First rule of decluttering.

Not only does she encourage me to get rid of some items, she leads by example.

Does this make her a minimalist? I guess it does.

Thank you baby for starting me on this journey of not only clearing my physical and mental clutter, but also the avoidance of becoming a borderline hoarder(anyone watch these programmes about hoarders on TV? Scary )- I love you baby for educating me.

We can all learn from others- young or old.

I plan to put this into practice in every possible area of my life. Wish me luck as it’s going to be a struggle, which I’m hell bent on achieving.

The kitchen cupboards are sorted😃. Nail polishes are done. Makeup💄 is almost sorted. The loft was a big one. Years of keeping nonsense that I knew I’d never ever use. Some shoes and handbags have already gone to good homes. I still need to get rid of more. Onto the hair products next. The clothes are going to be a big challenge😢. Then the rest of the house will follow.

The thing is – this exercise is so liberating, I wish I’d started a long time ago – perhaps when I decided to chop off all of my permed hair.

 Until next time, keep ☺.

Apologising To Your Children

I have no shame in saying that I’m so sorry to my girls 👭 when I know that I’m in the wrong and I have offended them.

After all, they are human and have feelings too.

Now, the culture I grew up in as a young lady did not necessarily acknowledge that kids should be apologised to.

Instead, some parents would chose to apologise(or should I say “bribe”) by bringing home some goodies for you on their way back from work.

As for me, I’ve chosen not to follow that path as it’ll cost me a fortune….

An apology from the bottom  of my heart cost nothing.

And pride goes before a fall.

I consider myself hypocritical if I expect my girls to apologise to me – and I can’t even be bothered to acknowledge and reciprocate the same when the need arises.

Folks, that’s it for today on the blogging front.

Chin ☝and keep 😏

Learn To Start A Blog

Everyone is blogging and our blogs are getting read.

That’s great but what if any of my readers would like to know how to start blogging.

Believe me, it took me about 4 years to finally get one up and running – NO, it doesn’t take 4 years to set up a blog…ha…it just took me that long.

At some point, I was convinced that I needed a website…not sure what I’d be selling on it.

Anyway, blogging about blogging can’t really be captured in one blog. A good way would be to talk about it on a place like periscope.

Don’t be scared about blogging – it’s not that hard – except you have to put in some work.

You also don’t need to own a computer to keep your blog going – although I advise you use one to set yourself up in the first instance.

It doesn’t have to be expensive to have a blog – again, you may have to pay a little sum for your domain name to start with.

I actually thought it was worth paying to learn it the right way – and so I did.

I ain’t no expert by any stretch of the imagination, but trust me you can do it.

I can give you some easy steps to get you started and on your way.

NB – Facebook or Instagram is the best place to let me know if you want a tutorial on blogging.

Folks, I hope this is useful to you. Be good and keep smiling.

Old Skool vs Modern Age

Hello peeps, it’s time to reminisce

I miss the good old days when you knew everyones home telephone number

In came mobile phones…and I can’t even remember my own mobile number…

Gone are the days when your birth certificate was the most reliable form of identification

In came student ID…

Gone are the days when you needed a ticket  to travel on the London Underground train

In comes swiping your mobile phone on the barrier(for those of you who use the trains)….

Gone are the days when you issued a cheque(anyone still get these from their banks?) as payment

In with “uploading” your phone with money…

Blockbuster(or any video rental shop) – on a Friday evening – what happened?

Netflix…

Gone are the days when you couldn’t reverse your car without looking behind you

In-car CCTV was born…

I miss the good old days, but I also embrace modern age

Move with the times – otherwise, time will leave you behind!

Until next time, be good and keep smiling

Social Media Poem

I don’t do social media cos, what’s it called? Um, oh yeah,

Bookface…Facebook..well, I don’t want my dirty linen spread in public,

As for YouTube…don’t you have to do videos to go on there? I wouldn’t know where to start,

Then, yeah…you have Twitter – well, how do I ‘twitch?’,

I hear there’s Google+..so you mean there’s a better google?

These young ones are instagramming all the time – why do I need to post a picture of myself..when I know what I look like?

Vlogging…blogging – what’s that about?

These are genuine fears that you hear from time to time – so go easy on anyone who doesn’t do social media as well as you do.

I say, if you don’t do social media, please, at least own a phone – a MOBILE phone I mean. And if you don’t know how to use a mobile phone, get a friend or family to call you intermittently when you are out and about – remember to get them to turn it on.

Even if you don’t know how to answer it, at least you can say – I do own a phone and that counts as social media too.

I’m out of here folks. Chin up.
